Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking multiple Aquaculture Workers to support our seasonal harvest at our prawn farm in Ayr, with immediate starts available

You will be required to complete a range of manual handling and reporting activities including, but not limited to:

  • Maintaining animal wellbeing in accordance with farm protocols including acclimatisation and water quality
  • Completing routine feeding as per established schedules
  • Monitoring water quality and ensure water quality is within desired biological parameter to maximise stock health
  • Ensuring aeration operation for all production ponds, conduct water exchanges as requested, and check pond edges of all production ponds
  • Routine husbandry activities
  • Preparation and maintenance of stocking equipment
  • Completing larvae transfers
  • Completing ‘dry out’ tasks as necessary, including
    • Earthworks
    • Repairs and maintenance to existing facilities (jetties, inlets, screens)
    • Settlement pond dry out maintenance

These positions are labour intensive and applicants must be physically able to carry out a range of repetitive bending and lifting tasks on unsealed access roads.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • A current forklift licence (desirable)
  • You must hold a current manual driver’s licence and have reliable transportation to and from work
  • You have full working rights in Australia 
  • You enjoy working outdoors
  • You have fine tuned problem solving skills 
  • Attention to detail and good communication skills are essential
  • Working in a small but dedicated team, you will be expected to be highly motivated, responsible, and reliable
  • You will adhere to the company workplace health and safety processes along with following responsible environmental practices
  • Your flexible approach to working hours and locations is supported by your willingness to undertake shift and weekend work as required
